Markets vs Politics

One cannot observe markets without coming away mightily impressed with the intelligence, the courage, the prudence, the fortitude, the self-discipline, the astuteness, and, above all, the creativity of fellow human beings. To observe and reflect on markets is an uplifting experience that makes one proud of the human species.

One cannot observe politics without coming away mightily distressed at the stupidity, the cowardice, the recklessness, the timidity, the prodigality, the gullibility, and, above all, the cruelty of fellow human beings. To observe and reflect on politics is a disheartening experience that makes one ashamed of the human species.

CNN Fake News

Exhibit A

Polls are not news. Polls are polls. The manifest laziness of modern fake news organizations to publish polls as “news” exposes their agendas and undermines their credibility.

Exhibit B

The agenda is “destroy prosperity,” the trope is “protect the earth.” We are supposed to be worried about temperature measurements over a  130 year span for a planet that is 4.6 billion years old. That means, we are looking at data from 0.000003% of the total lifespan of the planet. We are also conveniently ignoring all of the temperature indicators (indirect measurements) we have from before the 1880s.

You keep using that word (freedom)

“President Barack Obama surprised an emotional Vice President Joe Biden Thursday by presenting him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom during a White House ceremony.”

Mr. President, if you are awarding Joe Biden an award that has the word “Freedom” in the title, you obviously do not understand what that word means.

My first thoughts on CalEXIT

I saw something about the #CalEXIT movement this morning. On my drive to work, I was thinking:

  • We will keep all of our military assets there
  • We will negotiate for access to ports, rail, etc.
  • We will still trade with California
  • California can only survive by trading with the US
  • We get rid of two persistently problematic US Senators
  • We get rid of 53 problematic House Representatives
  • We get rid of a sizable chunk of socialist Californians
  • We get rid of as many socialists who will migrate to California
  • As the California socialists run their country into the ground many companies will move to the US
  • After the California socialists have run their country into the ground, we can invade and liberate them

I’m thinking, “Brilliant!”

Oh, no! Another interesting cartridge based on the 308 Winchester

I have been party to a long running love affair with the 308 Winchester/7.62×51 NATO for more than twenty years. There is so much to love about this cartridge, and the variations it naturally gives rise to.

The most recent addition to this continually growing family is the 375 Raptor

So far, I have been able to resist the temptation to expand my cartridge library. I am probably going to break down eventually….
